We expressly note that the use of mechanical ventilation is usually essential in highly airtight building shells. It is not possible to obtain the required rates of air exchange by common airing. Please beware of the issued limiting values of air tightness (permeability of joints) as well as all mandated features of windows/doors. We expressly note that KATZBECK windows/doors have been designed for use in inhabited and uninhabited buildings. Please beware that the conditions of the inside space (temperature and relative humidity) must be within the limits of Austrian standard (ÖNORM) B 8110-2. Any deviating installation climates (e.g. indoor pools, saunas, freezer rooms, stables, ...) or special requirements such as increased concentrations of salt or acids in the surrounding air (proximity to ocean, dairy trades, stables, chemical trades, etc.) are subject to the expressed written consent of KATZBECK. It is not possible to guarantee windows and door components will remain free of condensation under any and all conditions. This holds especially true for components which touch ground level and feature low thresholds where condensation may form (such as French Doors, front doors, lifting-sliding doors, …). Therefore, the planners responsible for planning the respective structural connecting areas need to assess the risk of condensation formation and have to ensure that the connecting areas are constructed with elements insensitive to moisture, if necessary; this, in order to ensure that adjacent components in contact with those areas will not become imbued. A variety of mechanical, climatic, and chemical stress is imposed upon windows and doors during construction. Therefore, protect the products through covering/masking and be sure to conduct sufficient airing to eliminate excess moisture. The climate conditions of the Austrian standard (ÖNORM) B 8110-2 may also not be exceeded during construction! There are gaps for steam pressure compensation of the profiles between the wood and aluminium profiles. Especially protect these joints (until construction is completed) from moisture. Wood is a natural product therefore it is the sole material offering a unique and natural look. Variations in color, growth, width of year rings,… are what constitute the uniqueness of wooden products. By combining several wooden components in a door/window and/or the use of solid wood and veneer, various afore mentioned variations in color or growth may appear in one element. Despite the meticulous selection of materials, this cannot be avoided and therefore does not constitute grounds for complaints. Especially protect wood aluminium and wood components from moisture, rain, and snow during storage and construction. When covering the components ensure that no sunlight whatsoever leads to subsequent partial darkening of the wood surface. Therefore, the foam transportation wedges have to be removed immediately following delivery. Apply suitable tapes to protect the surface. Tapes must be UV resistant as well as compatible with wood and aluminium surfaces. Use tapes approved by the varnish and coating producers! Tape must be removed as quickly as possible. Moisture, mortar, concrete, plaster material and colors and/or said fumes may trigger chemical reactions in types of wood rich in resin (e.g. larch, Oregon) and tannin (e.g. oak). These may lead to permanent changes in colors of the surface. Protect your wood surfaces during construction by using suitable material for masking. If any soiling remains on the components despite the utmost care, these must be removed immediately after they occur by using non-aggressive agents. When using micro fiber cloth for cleaning windows, the surfaces of silicone joints and seals may be rubbed off (based on the structure and the beards featured in the cloths) and, as a result, any adjacent surfaces (glass, aluminium, wood) may become smudged. Therefore, the use of such cloths when cleaning windows has to be avoided at all costs. 46 KATZBECK-MANUAL

Alkaline washout from the façade and walls may create irreparable damages on powder coated and anodized surfaces. In order to prevent this from happening, windows and doors have to be protected (masked) and/or cleaned and conserved in time. The primary task of sun protection contraptions (blinds, venetian blinds, shutters) aims at keeping sunlight from penetrating living space and keeping said space dark to prevent them from overheating. Due to structural reasons, some areas may experience slight light penetration around the sun protection contraptions, preventing full darkening. This does not constitute grounds for claims! Notes on Sun Protection and Fly Screens: Based on the way elements are constructed, rattling noises by the sun protection elements may occur due to winds, stormy weather, …. Noises may also arise when hinges or mountings move slightly. Drive motors may create residual noises of varying intensity and volume. The aforementioned factors do not constitute grounds for claims. Fly screens have been created largely in order to keep flying insects from penetrating interior spaces; however, based on the structure of the elements, these may not always be able to fully prevent the intrusion of insects and/or very small creeping, crawling insects. Especially drainage apertures and/or structural openings (e.g. between the cleat and the frame) in windows and doors, might lead to occassional penetration through insects in the area of the rabbet or the interior. This, again, does not constitute any grounds for claims. Regularly check the straps of the rolling shutters for wear and tear in order to prevent the hazard of an entire falling shutter element. Rolling shutters and blinds have to be retracted into the protective casing or the panel at wind speeds in excess of 60 km/h, in order to prevent damages to suspended elements. KATZBECK recommends: wind and/or sun guards! Transportation from the factory to the construction site in our own trucks is the responsibility of KATZBECK. The responsibility for unloading on site and/or bringing the components into the CS lies with assembly and unloading personnel. Therefore, transfer of goods occurs “delivered at place. The client/contract partner must provide the following: access via a paved road, sufficient storage space (protected from the elements), enough unloading personnel and/or lifting devices to maneuver the components. The carrying loops fastened to the front of the components serve the purpose of easier transport. CAUTION: the load capacity and/or the fixation of the carrying loops to the frame have to be checked by the unloading personnel for heavy components. In no event may the carrying loops be used to fasten and suspend the components to mechanical lifting vehicles (crane). The components have to be checked to ensure there are no damages and that they conform with the placed order. Any flaws, especially damages as a result of transportation, have to be reported to KATZBECK in writing (including a digital picture) on the freight documents (delivery slip) within 24 h (in any case BEFORE assembly), including an exact description of the flaw. Storage of windows/doors should take place in dry, well-aired rooms without frost. Cover the components with film or cardboard to protect them from the dust and soiling. Wood aluminium and wood components may not be leaned directly against one another in order to prevent any damages to the coating or the wood Ensure the necessary gap between the components during storage. Remove the foam transportation wedges as soon as possible after delivery in order to prevent any sticking together with the surface. KATZBECK-MANUAL 47
